The coating process is done inside an advanced machine usually a vaccume deposition chamber. Inside ultra thin layers of different metals & metal oxides are vaporitzed by an electron beam. The vapor then condenses on the surface in the form of a crystalline structure. It bonds a precious metal to the crystal structure on an atomic or molecular level; this is to give it an added color. The process is delicate & takes time becuase the metals are evaporated only 30-35 millionths of an inch. On average, the time it takes to coat is around 2-4 hours.
